Dr Gordon Wiseman named ‘Food and Drink Scientist of the Year’

For the second year running, a PAS scientist has received the prestegious ‘Food and Drink Scientist of the Year’ award.

As well as heading the PAS Molecular biology team; Dr Wiseman is also a core member of the DEFRA Authenticity Steering Group, the DEFRA Authenticity and Additive Methods Working Group (AMWG) and the newly formed AMWG DNA sub-group. Gordon and his team have recently been appointed a DEFRA Centre of Expertise, which recognises organisations that have a particular expertise in authenticity testing. All of these factors recognise his significant contribution to the UK’s efforts to combat food fraud and maintain consumer confidence in food.”
